Our Vision

The self-storage industry in Brazil will grow exponentially over the coming five to 20 years. Once fully mature, GSSB believes the Brazilian self-storage industry will generate in excess of $11 billion annually in total revenue.

The self-storage sector in the United States generates more than $20 billion annually.

The U.S. has roughly 300 million people and more than 50,000 self-storage facilities. Brazil, by comparison, has about 200 million people and less than 100 self-storage facilities.

Moreover, Brazil is a highly urban nation, with 84 out of every 100 Brazilians living in cities. Brazil has more than 100 cities with a population of a quarter million or more.  Disposable income among Brazil’s urban population is growing, with an estimated 40 million Brazilians having entered the middle class during the last 14 years.

As consumption increases, so does the need for self-storage, especially in urban environments where there is a relative lack of storage space when compared to rural areas.

We have visited various self-storage facilities in Brazil. Their occupancy rates were 85% or greater. Each facility had total annual revenues of $3.5 million or more.

GSSB’s mission is to develop and then maintain safe and secure self-storage facilities for Brazilian consumers and others to store their valuables.
